Large painted billboards in Spanish dominate a city square, with readable signage for "PILSEN", "CINE CALLAO", "IMPERIAL" aperitif and a furniture ad reading "MUEBLES". An ornate cast-iron streetlamp fitted with a round clock anchors the intersection while a dark, enclosed 1910s-era automobile with wooden-spoked wheels and a visible license plate "E-3718" turns in the foreground; the car appears to be a European taxi or a Renault/Ford Model T variant. Pedestrians wear Edwardian to early 1920s clothing - men in suits and straw or bowler hats, women in long skirts and wide-brim hats - suggesting circa 1910s to early 1920s. The surrounding Beaux-Arts style façades and the concentration of large commercial posters suggest a busy downtown entertainment district, possibly the Callao area in Madrid (appears to be).
